This is a custom circuit bed designed to increase the efficiency and time took to perform the upgrade of each circuit. Its designed in such a way that once you put the circuit on the bed, the pins connect to the respective pins automatically with the solderings hence reducing the time is taken to connect each cable individually.
This designed optimized the time taken from 3 minutes 45 seconds down to an impressive 50 seconds per circuit board or 75%.
Brief and Problem.
The main brief was to reduce the time consumed to upgraade each circuit board. The upgradation requiered a lot of man labour, as one had to connect and disconnect all the cables. The secondary aim was to make it as cheap as possible, as its counterpars sell for around 8000€.
The main idea was to use digital fabrication to make personalized beds for each circuit types demanded by the client, but based upon the same principals. We used inexpensive materials, as 3mm MDF sheets and laser cutting technique to reduce the cost and time consumed to manufacture each device.
There was a pipeline drawn to make the design paramatric from the scratch. Because we needed small adjustments due to the margin of error in the laser cutter, of the imperfections in the MDF material. Also this served us to make a variety of other circuit bed of different dimensions.
